Character Info
Character Name: Siegfried
Canon: Fate/Apocrypha
Character Age: ??? Looks like a 20 or 30-something man in the prime of his strength.
History: Here on the Type-Moon Wiki.

Powers:

Going from General to Specific:

As a Servant:

- Neither Human nor a wandering spirit, Servants are more like a high calibur Familiar to the human mage that summoned them. They require the Human to help anchor them to the material world and to help provide magical energy for the wonderous acts that they can perform by their nature.

- Dematerializing. Servants are summoned Heroic Spirits and do not need to eat, drink, or sleep necessarily. Maintaining a physical form expends magical energy, so many Servants will shift between materialized and dematerialized modes-- where they are still present, but they have a more difficult time interacting with the physical world.

- Forming a Pact. This varies, but Servants typically need to bond with a Human Mage, wherein the Human will gain three command spells which they can use to give specific orders to their Servant partner, or to provide an extra magical boost as needed.

- Knowledge. Upon being summoned, all Servants will be given knowledge of how the contemporary world works via history, politics, etc, in order to help facilitate communication. Additionally, they understand all languages regardless of what they knew when they were alive.

As a Saber:

- Siegfried is regarded as one of the strongest warriors in Nordic myth, and as such his skills with a sword is unparalleled.

- Riding. Due to the nature of how Servants work, Sabers are able to ride any standard mounted creature with above average skill, as well as operate any manned vehicle with above average skill regardless of whether or not they were able to when they were alive.

Personal Skills:

- Dragon-Slayer. This is related to how he felled Fafnir in his source myth, and why dragons are his favored enemy. Anyone or anything with draconic features will both face an increased offensive stat from Siegfried, but also an increased defensive stat; they will not be able to harm him, but they also will not be able to defend themselves from him.

- Golden Rule (c). This functions as a debuff on Luck for Siegfried because of the nature of the cursed fortune he acquired during his lifetime, Das Rheingold. The fortune is related to the Dragon, Fafnir, who started it's existence as a dwarf that was transformed by his own greed. Das Rheingold will similarly curse anyone who possesses it with a similar debuff on Luck.

Mostly, this basically means that if there are multiple options for an ending, the more unpleasant/difficult one will be more likely to occur.

- Disengage. This is exactly what it says: Siegfried can disengage from an enemy without taking a debuff such as allowing the enemy to gain an extra attack or losing any turns or speed.

Noble Phantasms:

These are the specific items associated with his legend.

- Armor of Fafnir. It is a continuously active magic armor that is the reason for Siegfried's near invulnerability. Most attacks will barely injure him unless it is specifically an anti-dragon attack... or if he is directly pierced through the linden leaf shaped mark on his back, which he cannot protect with his armor due to the fact that this area was protected from Siegfried's bath in the blood of Fafnir by a leaf that was stuck to his person.

- Balmung. This is the sword of the Nibelungs, which Siegfried used to slay Fafnir. It is a cursed holy blade which changes in nature depending on who is wielding it. For Siegfried, it serves as the holy blade with which he fought every battle until his death. With certain activation words, this sword can release an immense wave of destruction that can fell armies. It can also give an increased level of damage against draconic enemies

The Anti-Army aspect of Balmung will naturally be nullified for gameplay. Both noble phantasms will also be severely nerfed within the bounds of the city, if they can be used for their magical nature at all.

Personality

Please provide a summary (ideally 500-1000 words) of your character's most important strengths, weaknesses, goals, and fears.

Alternatively, answer at least three of these questions:

What is your character best at, and how do they feel about that?

Siegfried was renowned as the best warrior in Medieval Germany due to his valorous actions in slaying the cursed dragon Fafnir. As a result of this, his well bred upbringing as a Prince of the Netherlands, and his own humble nature, he took it upon himself to act as the Hero that the people needed. However, much like another Saber, he did not consider the greater ramifications of allowing himself to be a Servant of the People-- and he forgot that he himself has the capacity to choose his destiny.

In canon, what does your character fail at? What are the consequences of that failure?

Siegfried fails at standing up for how own wants and needs as an individual. This ultimately resulted in him following orders without question, as we see in the context of the anime, and puts him at odds with his fellow team mate of the Black Faction, the Rider, Astolfo, as well as allowing a helpless homunculus child that had found sentience to be brought to the brink of death. Astolfo's pleas and anger brought Siegfried back to his senses, and he described choosing to act on his own will an act of 'selfishness', and that this makes him 'not worthy of being a Servant' to the Yggdmillennia Master that summoned him.

This decision and encounter ultimately resulted in Siegfried's untimely 'death', in a a parallel to his death during his human lifetime where he acted on behalf of another and was ultimately betrayed for it-- and killed via a literal stab in the back.

Siegfried's death was the start of a chain reaction in which his wife, Kriemhild swore vengeance-- and married Atilla the Hun in order to fulfill this ambition of slaughtering everyone involved with her husband's blade.

Fundamentally: the results of Siegfried's failure to speak up about his own wishes has ended in bloodshed on two separate occasions: at least, for the second time, it was only his own blood that was spilled by his own hand.

What does your character want most in the world?
What is your character most afraid of?
How would your character react to a deep betrayal from the person they care about the most?

Where does your character see themselves in five years?

Nowhere. He gave his life to save a dying child-- a heroic act of his own free will. It was selfish, but that was truly all he wanted.

He didn't need the Grail to manifest his wish. He did it for himself.

He did not plan to have another chance at life in the world. He had already had a second chance-- people rarely get more than that. If anything, he fully anticipates dying at least once more. It seems to be the pattern of his existence.
